About

Goal: To build trust by blending your high-level credentials with your human experience.

Heading: Meet Elden (Chin Yu) Leung | MA, MCMFT, RP

“I believe that healing doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it happens within the safety of a secure relationship.

My journey into psychotherapy began with a foundation in health as a Registered Nurse, where I learned the profound connection between the body and the mind. Transitioning into the field of mental health, I earned my Master’s in Christian Marriage and Family Therapy and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counselling.

As a first-generation immigrant to Canada, I bring a unique cultural lens to my work. I understand the complexities of navigating multiple identities, the stress of life transitions, and the importance of family legacy. My clinical experience is extensive, having served as a Clinical Director and Supervisor, but at the heart of my practice, I am a therapist who values ‘radical acceptance.’ I am here to walk beside you, not just as an expert, but as a compassionate guide who respects your unique story.”

This is a powerful addition. Sandplay Therapy is a perfect bridge between your nursing background (the physical) and your psychotherapy practice (the symbolic). It is highly effective for trauma because it bypasses the “logical” brain and accesses the “emotional” brain through non-verbal play.

Here is the polished and updated “My Therapeutic Approach” section for your new website.

My Therapeutic Approach: Integrated Healing for Mind and Heart

I believe that true healing requires more than just “talk.” It requires a safe space where the mind, body, and spirit can realign. My practice integrates several evidence-based modalities, allowing me to tailor my support to your unique needs—whether you are an adult seeking clarity or a parent looking for support for your child.

1. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

For Relationships & Connection As a therapist specializing in attachment, I use EFT to help couples and families identify the “negative cycles” they get stuck in. We work together to move past the arguments and silence, creating a new foundation of emotional safety and deep bonding.

2. EMDR & Trauma-Informed Care

For Processing the Past Trauma often lives in the body long after the event has passed. Using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and somatic approaches, I help you process “stuck” memories. This allows your brain to file these experiences away properly so they no longer trigger distress in your daily life.

3. Sandplay Therapy

For Children & Deep Trauma Recovery Sometimes, words are not enough—especially for children or those who have experienced profound trauma. Sandplay Therapy is a creative, non-verbal modality where you or your child can use miniatures to create a “world” in a tray of sand.

  • For Children: It provides a natural language to express complex feelings they cannot yet name.
  • For Trauma Survivors: It allows the subconscious to process and externalize internal pain in a safe, symbolic way, leading to breakthroughs that traditional talk therapy might miss.

4. Child & Youth Specialized Support

For Growth & Resilience With specialized training in Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) and Kimochis (Social-Emotional Learning), I help children and teens navigate anxiety, neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism), and emotional regulation. My goal is to equip young people with the tools they need to thrive at home and in school.

5. Culturally Sensitive & Spiritually Integrated Care

For the Whole Person As a first-generation immigrant and a Clinical Supervisor with a background in Pastoral Counselling, I honor your heritage and your faith. I offer services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, ensuring that you can express your deepest thoughts in the language that feels most like home.
